ph III only holding 0.8 bar:(

i've had phase 3 in my car for a few months now but it will only hold 0.8 bar. i do not have any boost leaks and my actuator and wastegate are new. the car overboosts to 1.5 bar as it should but won't hold anything above 0.8 bar even if i turn the actuator up.
any help would be much appreciated.

Hi !

For a short test disconnect the waste gate actuator , so drive shortly carefully and accelerate beginning with 4000RPM !

When the boost value is the same , your turbocharger is the problem !

Firstly.. This is not mel.. its Stupink.. i've never successfully signed up to this board despite hours (litterally) of trying.. so mel has kindly posted this for me.. Secondly.. My '92 Cally T also has this identical problem.. 1.5bar overboost no problems 0.9bar held no matter what

My wastegate has been rebuilt, altho not that recently, i have a new actuator, lambda, no boost leaks and no fault codes....

My car is not driveable untill thursday, when i will try disconnecting the actuator, and see if mine also boosts fine.. i presume i have to take of the vacuum hose?? and slowly boost the car with light throttle around 4k so that the car boost builds up slowly rather than overboosting? to see if it still limited to .9bar of goes right up?? i will stop at 1.15 bar yes??

What other tests might i try? how can i verify the calibration of the ECU's internal sensor? might this be the cause? (if i select power switch stage 1, i get 0.4bar held no overboost.. so i would immagine if anything its under reading though, as this is supposed to be 0.3 bar yes??

if you drive with a disabled actuator there is probably nothing left which could limit the boost. The Motronic normaly has two limits (upper & lower) programmed into the boost chip which should prevent your engine from getting damaged. If the Motronic detects a too high boost level over an specific amount of time, it will jump into the emergency program. But I'm not sure wether the upper limit is still enabled in EDS Phase 3.

So try it , but be careful ! You just want to find out wether your turbo is ok or not. I guess, you don't want to win the 2003 Calibra boost record !

I had this problem many times at customer cars !!

By that do you mean to check the boost/vacuum hose and connections to the ECU??? or do you mean something internal to the ECU.. if you mean the external connection, When i fitted my phase kit i secured all hoses with minature cable ties, i have checked, and they are all still secure and obviously as air tight as can be....

When i fitted my boost gauge, i fitted it of a "T" connector off the ECU's supply, this wouldnt have adversly effected it in any way would it?? (i think this also should show that there are no leaks around here, as the overboost would not register 1.5bar on the gauge had the montronic connection been leaking??)

Thanks for your help, i will try everything you can think of to suggest and work with Cally_t to resolve this... I will double check my boost without actuator cautiosly on thursday.. but not take it above 1.2 bar

no updates yet stu, been busy......gonna have another go at sorting it this week. yeah i have reset the ECU CalTe but it did'nt make any difference

Well i didnt have time in the end due to several bodged jobs taking longer, and now my injector is leaking air, should be fixed friday, then finally ill try to test boost with no actuator at the weekend.. CallyT any updates?

When i have done that i will give up, i have nothing else to try and no money to take to garages, i just dont know what is causing this

How many of you P3 users actually get the 1.15 bar?? or do they all do this? perhaps im just expecting too much.

mate i am fed up with my phase 3.5 as i have problems trying to get 1.5 bar overbvoost and turbo is new i can only get 1.3 bar despite having no leaks and adjusting the actuator.
