The rev counter on my Calibra Turbo 4x4 has stooped working and the 4x4 light stays on all the time but when I check the fault codes there is no fault code stored?

Please help lads as this happened last night after letting a friend try my ecu in his car because he thought his phase 3.5+ chips were faulty but they were not :evil: :twisted: :evil: :cry:
I drove the car in my lunch time (14:00) and the car was fine, get to my garage at about 16:30 take out the ecu and try it in my friends car.

This is the same fault that has developed with a phase 3.5 that we got from fitted by EDS. Initially we thought that it was the ECU that had been damaged by the fitter but after finding that this is your problem also, there has to be a fault somewhere...

Arno, do you have the answer to this?

The rev-signal is generated in the ECU and then send to the revmeter.
If your ECU is broken, then simply catch up the signal from the ignition-coil and your rev-meter and 4x4 will work again. This is no problem caused by the boostcontrollerboard , it can also happen on a standart ECU.

I am not happy with that green wire bodge, I want my car the way it should be not with extra wires here and there.
So basically are you telling me that my ECU is damaged/broken/faulty :x :evil: :twisted:

cheers for the info on how to get this resolved but its not ideal :roll: I know if i was buying a LET and i noticed that wiring had been altered in this fashion i would keep well clear!

The bottom line is that 3 phase 3.5+ ECU's that were bought at the beginning of January have the same fault. These ECU's were working prior to being sent off and on return either never worked or didn't last very long. IMO this can only be down to those handling the ECU's after receiving them. This batch and any others done around the this time should be looked at, repaired / replaced and returned in the 100% working order they were provided in.

a litlle bit more investigation is required as opposed to quick fixes :idea:

I see no reply has been made to this comment.

A: the kits are supplied and are meant to plug in and play. Nothing else to be done.

B: if this is not the case then the product has been sold under false pretenses. This is illegal

I think the phase 3.5 is a great kit and have only had problems with one of them (above).. surely if all the later ones work then this means there is a problem with the first batches.

Hi Gavin !

Sometimes things happen , also Outputs from the ECU break down !

The software in the CHIPS hase nothing to do with the Motronik-board generated ignition output !

In our boost beast we have 2 spare ECUS , there the ignition rev counter is even taken from the ignion coil direct , so send me the broken ECU , i send you a working one back , the beast dont cares !

Have tried taking a feed direct from the coil/ignition module but still my rev-counter is not working and my 4x4 light is on, so what should I try next???

Help me out people as I love my Calibra but it is starting to p!ss me off now and I am thinking of selling the car. :cry: :x :? :( :evil:

Dont connect it to the electronik module !

Perhaps you took the wrong connection at the coil !

please check it !

Also you can measure the ignition pulse at the 4x4 ECU near the fuse box !

Disconnect the ECU and measure the green wire , there must be a signal from the ignition coil !

I have now done the green wire from the ignition module mod but when I accellerate over 4000rpm the 4x4 light comes on and if I then read the fault codes it has stored code 31 (no rpm signal).

How do I fix this???? :?:

code 31 always comes, when your engine is not running! :wink:

Check the codes when your engine is in idle, then there shouldn´t come code 31!

Hi Damian666 !

Some of the 4x4 ECUs need a very clear RPM signal , please install the following easy electrical parts to clear up the RPM signal !

Then your problems should be fixed !

All the parts you get below 1 EUR , to repair your ECU , could be more than 250 times !

EDIT :

KL1 = Ignition coil RPM signal
KL15 = switched power supply
