Hi

Can some of you LET guys tell me what sort of bearing u use on your conrods, we refer them as big end bearings...If i can I want to avoid spending 200 euros on these bearings...I have had a quote on kolbenschmidt bearings, but i need to know if these are any good or if any one has good or bad experience....

Please let me know asap, as im confused...also there are 2 widths, 18.5 and 20mm....early XE/LET engines had a wider bearing and the later ones had 18.5.......

Thanks in advance

Hi Yunisaz,

the conrods are fitted with "Pleuellager" to the crank shaft. And the crankshaft is running in several "Kurbelwellenlager"

Pleuel - piston rod or conrod
kurbelwelle - crankshaft
Lager - bearing

Sorry that's all I actualy can do for you. But if you can't get the information until tomorow at noon, I ask a friend, who will give me this information.

I need the bearings for the con rods only, not the crank as i have this already....25 oversize. I have seen 2 versions, one which is 20mm in width, and the other about 18.5mm.

The early XE engine from 1989-91 had a wider 20mm bearing, which is what came off my turbo, and the one vandervell sold me was a later type, 18.5mm used from 92-98...

I need them in a lead copper or lead bronze indium, basically heavy duty.

Risse motorsport are selling some, but i dont know what spec they are....If you can help me i would really appreciate it

Thanks Joe, arnt you the guy with the Apexi boost meter wired up in your car? u were talking about it on clubcalibra!!:)

Well i did order some kolbenschmidt bearing a few days ago and they sent me ones fot the ecotec!! pt no. KW-77 268 610, .25 oversize... they are different, and wont fit in the con rod.... :(

I have had a responce from risse and they are doing them for the XE the wide ones, but the only problem i have is that they dont accept credit cards and it quite difficult for me to do a bank transfer, as my bank is making that very hard to do, i have to justify my reasons, inc several letters of proof, official documents that why im making the transfer etc...( you know all this terrorism paranoinia)

In germany you guys have good quality stuff and at a good price too, here in the uk its just mad

Yunisaz,

yes, right, I use the A'PEXi boost controller in my Calibra and yes we "know" each other from the ClubCalibra forum.
The ClubCalibra currently seems to have some problems. Its' offline :( Do you have any information, when it will be online again ?

Any way, I have talked with my friend this mornig about your bearings. He told me that there are two different types of bearings available. The one he absolutly recommended to have long lasting engine, is a so called "Dreistofflager" . I fear you now expect a translation of this term , right ?

Mhhh difficult, cause I have no idea what's the corresponding term in english. So I translate it word by word.
drei - three
stoff - material
lager - bearing

It's sold by GM/Vauxhall and I'll send you the GM number as soon as I can get it from him. He is currently in Hockenheim and he can't give me the number earlier than monday.
