transfer box (what power can it take)

what's the most power the standard LET transfer box can handle??

considering the Dorfbrunnen Sports TXB is qouted at 300bhp max a standard txb should only take less. But people have been running phase 3 and above on cars with standard txb's!!

I suppose its a case of how well you look after the txb and how you drive the car as to how long the standard item will last

It's not a question of power but torque ! The stock TX-box has a visco clutch which delivers around 100 Nm to the rear and the (Hürlimann) Dorfbrunne-Garage Racing TX-Box is capable of delivering more than 250 NM to the rear axle. But they have replaced stock gear wheels against ones with a special surface treatment. The stock ones were obviously a little bit too
weak.

my rear wheels locked last week....took out the transfer box and it has a big crack along the top of the casing

My condolence for your broken TX-Box !

I guess you have had a so called hump. That means your visco clutch became like a fixed connection and the differences between front and rear axle destroyed the TX-box as it its the weakest part in the line from the rear to the front axle.

yeah i'm sorting it out with Richard.....i'm getting the sports tx box hopefully this one should last 8)
