I'm not too sure on this one, they look all too like cooling fins to me. And since the whole principal of the AMM is temperature I think it will affect it.

You can of course dump the mesh screens on each end. You could even change it for a larger version if alterations could be made in the managment.

If you dump the mesh screens, don't forget to reinsert the rings with which they were fastened. Otherwise you have created a nice little stage which helps to raise the air drag.

I would'nt remove the 1. mesh screen (the 1. one after the bell mouth) , cause it has impact on what the AMM measures ! Your fuel consumption will rise a little bit while not at full throttle. And even though you're probably a fast driver, your not always at full throttle, right ? :)

I have removed the 2. mesh screens and have shortened the AMM with a saw so that this part of the AMM cylinder( where 2. mesh screen was fitted), has no more impact on the air stream.

Another hint: Center the bell mouth carefully and stick it !

Well - I have been there, with the screens, and destroyed one piece of massmeter  so mybe I have to replace them with new larger ones then.

My ide was, if the electronics are safe even for the Gulf states mybe I could take away some of the cooling whithout effecting the electronics.

.... but the meter is expensive and not repairable so I will not take any risk.

Other idees how to get a better flow ??

I'd get a manometer set up and do some measurements. The AMM may restrict less than you think.

Improvements to the airbox and a nice cold air feed are always good. And although the 'ram air' effect is never gonna provide any decent positive air pressure on a road car it does minimise negative ones created by the intake.
