Fuel flowrate

Hi - i have measured my actual fuel flowrate at the fuelrail. The pump is a Bosch ...984 that should give me 168 L/5 Bar. The voltage at the pump is 12.7 V. The fuelline has in some places a diameter of 6 mm ( pump bajo, damper and filter ) the rest of the line is 8 to 10 mm.

The metod was a hose to the railconnector, a gauge and a valve to raise the pressure.

The flow at 4.5 Bar was 1,6 L/min = 96 L/hour !!! Is that a normal loss of flow ?

96 L/h should JUST be anough for 300 HP.

Certainly the best way to do things.

Is 4.5 bar your base pressure? You know that when under boost that will rise more. 1 bar boost will = 5.5 bar fuel pressure for example.

984 the standard pump? They really are on the limit in my opinion.

4,5 is my base pressure - yes. At full load the pressure will be 5.7 bar.
Can cause me problems !!!

The Bosch ....984 is a highpressure pump 168L/h@5 Bar used on Saab 9000.

The std Bosch ....008 pump is able to flow 60 L/h@ the rail.
