At low revs is is changing better to 6th gear .. but at higher revs it's hopeless :(

Could easily just be the linkage that has gone a little out of adjustment - they are very particular.
How is reverse, is it tricky too?
They are very fiddly to set up, but worth persevering.

Also, it's possible your clutch needs adjusting, but that's probably effect mor ethan just 6th gear.

1. Check that clutch cable is correctly adjusted.

2. Pray that the syncromesh is O.K.

3. Adjust the gear change linkage.

One 13mm headed pinch bolt secures the gear lever rod to the gearbox linkage. This is found in the engine compartment close to where the rod goes through the bulkhead into the passenger compartment.

If 6th is hard to engage slacken this bolt and move the gear slightly to the left. Retighten pinch bolt. If 1st / reverse hard to engage move lever to the right.

The factory setting up locks the gearbox selector in place and likewise the gearlever. Depending on the age of the gearbox you will either have a spring loaded locking pin or a plastic plug blocking a hole above the box selector rod. There is a matching hole in the selector rod mechanism. Move the rod until the pin or if no pin then a drill bit of same diameter can be pushed into hole locking the selector rod. Undo the pinch bolt.
With the gearlever gaitor removed a small hole in the plastic attached to the gearlever can be seen on the left hand side. Again there is a matching hole underneath to lock the lever. Once locked tighten the pinch bolt.

Sorry I haven't explained this very well but its a very quick and simple job and shouldn't take more than acouple of minutes.

Yes it's also not very good... :( i have to struggle a little bit to get it in reverse....

Hi GSI-TURBO,

I got the same Prob, my Mech. said, that i have to choose if i want the reverse or the 6th Gear without any probs, i chosen the 6th Gear :)

He said, always he adjust the Reverse Gear, the 6th gear was out of range and otherwise :rolleyes:
Now i got the GEMA-Shorten gear-switch, it is a little bit better ;)

I also have the Gema short-shift-kit mounted to my gearbox..

Ik will try to fix it monday...

Yes, definietly sounds like the gear linkage needs adjusting.

As Russ says, can be very time consuming if you do it yourself. Really better if you have 2 ppl doing it :)

So its 99 euros and it reduces the shift by 50%??? Think i will be having one of these babys:D

How the feck do you order off these people? Ash any chance of you getting hold of these kits?? A transformation of there website to english would be bloody useful as well!
Oh well, will teach me for not listening to languages at school:rolleyes: :p

Yup, serves the lazy UK ppl right if you ask me. Every other country learns English as a 2nd language and we are very lucky because of it.....

Right, had a PM from Gema motorsports and very bloody helpful they seem to be! The guy's english is perfect as well:D
Hope to order one of these some time this week!:D BTW there website is gonna be transformed to english in a few weeks as well:cool:
