I recently fitted the EDS Phase II kit to my Calibra Turbo. Since then I've noticed that the engine gets hot very quickly and cooling is inefficient even when driven normally (off boost). The obvious reason would be the lack of airflow to the radiator due to the larger intercooler but before the PII the car could remain stationary for a long time without the need for the electric fan so it can not be simply an airflow problem? Do the chip make the engine run hotter due to changes in timing or fuelling?

I have an Air/Fuel ratio gauge which flicks between LEAN and STOICH when driving normally and rises to RICH when on full throttle so I think fueling should be okay. What else could it be? The cooling system was very efficient prior to fitting the PII so I don't think it is a problem with the cooling system itself...

The calibra watercooler is no lucky part !

Please first check your water temp controller , even replace it against the asia pacific version , opening at 78°C and not 102 °C as original !!

The engine gets a little bit hotter when your car is fitted with an AC system !

The temp can be very high at the LET engine , its a high pressure cooling system , the only thing thats not allowed , is that the water is blown up by the water filling filling overpressure valve , thats too much !

If nothing helps , install the XE watercooler and throw away the LET coolers , thats the best way !

But it was fine immediately before fitting the PII and always ran at just below 90 C...? Even with the car not moving the gauge would only climb very very slowly. Now it climbs very quickly and only comes down when the fan runs.

I don't have AC

If nothing helps , install the XE watercooler and throw away the LET coolers , thats the best way !

Does the XE have a bigger watercooler then?

The XE rad uses the space where the LET intercooler goes, so its bigger, yes.

Better cooling is always good when you're pushing an engine's limits with tuning anyway.

I'm interested in this. Is it possible to fit one from and XE then? What are the implications of the Turbo Water feed pipe at the top corner of the Rad? The XE rad doesn't have this does it?
