valve bounce remady on phase 3.5???

hi all im new and need sum help
my vauxhall nova is about to recieve phase 3.5 but ive been told by regal i need to insert a single washer under each exhaust vavle seat to stop valve bounce on boost as chris says it will damage my pistons and let gasses bak into the cylinder head if i dont? any ideas and does this seem a good remady to use?

Hi !

Believe me , its the best idea , to keep alive your engine !

The exhaust backpressure is high enough to open your exhaust valves when they are still closed !

In this case you have something like misfiering with rising or oszillating boost and when you dont be careful your pistins are damagded by hardly knocking ignition through the hot exhaust !°

Mostly all modified cylinderheads , when somebody was cutting the valve seats and prepared the valves , this problem appears !

Ash what concerns me is why isnt this stated in the literature for phase 3.5 or more importantly in my case for phase 4! I am getting pissed off with the fact that these facts are presented after the work has all been done. What size washers are u supposed to fit and how much are they, bearing in mind that we are talking about 8 metal rings i hope they are not "gold plated" in terms of cost.

I may have to consider doing this with the head in place which is gonna be a real git im sure!

Hi !

Its only nessesary when the head and the valves are modified
and when the customer is getting the misfireing problems at 5000-6000 Rpm with oszilated boost !

A standart Engine can run phase-3.5 with NO Problem !

All the phase-4 customers get the disks for free !

The price of one disk is only ca 1.50 EUR , you need 8 of them , and you can install them without replacing the cylinderhead or the valve bearings !!

Neil Adams didnt get the disks for his car so a set would be nice for his car. Some diagrams of how you do this would be nice as well.

thanks! i will be doing the disks then as i dont want my new low comp pistons buggered! thought id find out whilst the head is off! :wink:

Hi Ash,

What do you mean modified? I have had the head gas flowed but i havent touched the valve guides. The valves were just ground down with valve paste as per a clean up.

same here rds but i was still told to use them to compensate for spring wear :? god was chris right about something! :lol:
