From what I can gather we have now fitted/sold almost 50 phase 3/3.5 software kits from EDS and have been impressed with them. However, pretty recently I've been experiencing problems with the 5-stage switches..

Basically they don't seem to work and I want to find out why...

On position 5 (max boost stage) the amal valve is clicking constantly as it should and stops when Throttle postion (TP) is at max which is should. This gives max over boost with steady boost after that. However, when the switch is wound back to position 4, 3 and 2 exactly the same occurs ie 1.5 bar overboost with constant maintained boost (1.15/1.25).

Then,

Position 1, the amal valve stops clicking and does not click. I was assured that this should constantly click no matter the TP. This still gives the same boost figures as above.

Please can someone from EDS help?

Hi Gavin, how should it work then ?
Pos 1 : clicking all the time.
Pos 2, 3, 4 : no clicking ?
Pos 5 : clicking until TP is at its maxpos.

I try to help !

In the future we will put all the funktion diagramms for all power wheel versions to download at our page !

We try to improove the test procederure for the customers , but in Germany we are using the latest version V6.23 with a special funktion :

only when the lambdasensor shows a good Lambda-signal , the boost control system is working at oll stages , when there is no Lambda Sensor detected , the boost control is working ONLY at position 0 with low boost !

To test these versions is easy : to deactivate the lambda-watchdog , only push the trottle full when you switch on ignition , after that , you can test the system in the following way :

stage 1 : valve is clicking only very silent , even at full throttle!
stage 2-5 : valve is hardly clicking , and stops at full trottle !

If you get this , everthing is ok !

CalTe - the valve is meant to click permanantly on pos 1, 2 and then on 3, 4 and 5 it will give max over boost as the amal valve stops clickin at max TP and therefore the overboost is governed by the wastegate actuator (hence the overboost is set up for this by adjusting the actuator). Once a certain point is met the amal valve starts to click and maintains a constant boost which is determined by the voltage across the map sensor ie on the final position 5 the map sensor is reading at it's max level.

Hope this explains things a bit more :? (and Arno, if I am wrong please correct me :wink: )

Ok – it works like this then :

Stage 1 : allways clickin, also with full trottle (no Oboost).

Stage 2 to 5 : clickin as long as not full trottle.
At full trottle the Oboost is activated and then the mapsensor takes over when the trottle leave the end position.

ASH - in ver 6.23, is the PW set to stage 1 as long as the faultcode 13 is stored ?

3.5 phase kits

Position 1 i get ticking on full TP constant
Position 2,3,4and 5 i get ticking for 7 seconds before it stops after full TP has been applied.
Any ideas on how to correct this, so i can get full use of my tuned LET?

3.5phase under powered

Found out why i was not getting overboost!!! tried another ECU same problem. Changed Amal valve for new one still the same. Altered the throttle cable (more tension on it) and the car fells total different. :D :D :D I have had full throttle for at least a year.
