knock sensor

Hi there,

This afternoon i made 2 test to listen to the engine if i had 'knock' after i advanced the ignition..

1st try :

Use a resistor between the piezo knock sensor and connect it to a microphone amplifier so i could listen to the knocksensor. It worked.. but not as i wanted.

2nd try :

Install a small speaker at almost the same place as the knock sensor and connect the speaker to the amplifer. But now i got a lot of other noises.

What can i do on the opel engine to 'listen' to knock ?


Anyone have expirience ???

See if you can get hold of a listening device for hearing imparied people or something. Just need a small microfphone, length of wire, small headphone amplifier and headphones.

Mount the mic on a large clip so that it can be clipped on the block somewhere. That should enable you to hear what's happening.
