f18 => f16, f20

I have question about gearbox in astra' 97 with x18xe engine.
Can I change my f18 on f16 or f20 gearbox ?
Is it any diffrences in clutch or axle ?

The Problem is the Oilpan, the F18 of your 97er X18XE is bolted together with the Oil Pan.

The F16 or F20 Gearbox does not have the Holder for the three Screws.

What is going on with your F18? Is the Differential broken?

Sincerity i don't know
Now I have problem with 5 th gear - sometimes perf , sometimes no.

It's start when my rear engine arm was break.
Then my gearbox begin emission strange sound.
Mechanic tell me - it's differential

On my market price f18 is too high, and i think, put in f 16-f20- the price is very nice - low.

BTW form f18 and f16-f20 is the same, when i look at the gearbox.

Thanks for your answer, the problem is in oilpan - is it any chance to put inside my f18 - middle f 16, f20 ??

Hello!!
you can do F16 or F20 parts inside your F18 Gearbox if the axle Ratio is the same ... if not you have to change the diff. to
you only have to check the diameter of the bearing and if it´s other you have to chage

but the Axle Ratio is never the same. The F18 Gearbox has his own Axle Ratio, an the Differentil-parts aren t be the Same.

Your Info is not correct.

The F16/F20 have 3.55, the F18 have 3.57 etc etc.....

but you can have F16 W3.94 and F18W 3.94

the better way and much more safe is always to change both !!!

The W3.94 from F16 F20 is an other as them from the F18. You can believe it .

it´s OK @ ecotech .. i beleve it to ...
but if you change all parts inside there´s no Problem
---> watch out for the different bearing !!!
