Finally I got my Phase II installed at EDS - for almost two months I've been feeling like a kid waiting for christmas...

After driving the 700 km from Copenhagen in the standard coupé, my co-driver and I were looking forward to driving back on top of a rocket :p

The rocket started, and off we went. Shure enough - this was not the same car we came in !. At low speed, the car seems to almost leap forward when you touch the pedal - like you would expect from a car with a lot of bhp's.

Accelerating from 0 to 100 with full throttle is nolonger the "relaxed" experience of waiting for the needle to reach 6.000 rpm, and the shifting to 2nd gear and waiting again. Now you have to concentrate on keeping the car on the road because of the power combined with some tire slip allowed by the more relaxed anti-spin. The needle easily passes 7.000 rpm before gear change, second gear, and the tacho reaches 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (or so) - but here I observe something unexpected:
The power drops slightly between 6.000 and 6.500, which means that it fails to "skyrocket" to 100 km/h. It feels like there is suddenly no more turbo pressure, but at 6.500 it comes back and pushes all the way to 7.200 !?. According to the phase II measurements shown on the EDS WEB pages, there shouldn't be any power drop in torque or bhp. ASH, could you please comment.
This minor problem prevents the coupé from getting below 6.5 seconds on 0-100 (clocked with the board computer stopwatch and tacho - I know, it's not precise).
I think I experienced something similar with the EDS test car...

Continuing acceleration to higher speed, here I experience the most dramatic difference from the standard turbo coupé: The engine just keeps puhing forward - "all" other cars are passed in seconds, leaving them as dots in the rearview mirror. When going 180-190 km/h, and suddenly accelerating, you are still being pushed back in the seat, and 220-230 km/h is reached before you can say "goodbye drivers license" in danish :p

However, here I have a small problem again. Everybody (allmost) talk about 270 km/h top speed !?. Ok, we were two people and some extra weight in the car, but it was very difficult getting it past 245 !. I'm sure that if I had had more room on the autobahn and less weight it would have passed 250 - but 270 !?...

I would very much like to hear from other phase II drivers - do you have the same, or other experiences ?.

All in all, I'm still 100% satisfied with the phase II kit - I'm sure Arno is pushing the small turbo to the limit of what is possible - and it delivers everything I hoped for.

Hi Morten !

Sometimes i feel the same power drop at 6500RPM at my car , but not always , only when the back silencer is replaced , this effect is gone !

The original back silencer seems to get diffrent backpressures at diffrent part temperatures , even when its cold , then there is no effect !

Before the motronik shows a misfiering on various cylinders , so it could only be a backpressure problem !

Every customer with a Bastuck or Steinmetz exhaust system didnt get this effect !

I will keep on going on finding the lookup table ( more than 4500 ones in this ECU ) , when im successfull I will send you a motronik in exchange !

The maximumspeed is really 270km/h but need long time, the engine speed is so high ( 6800RPM ) that the engine power is much lower than at 5600RPM ! With bigger wheels the car is also much more faster !

Yes, the Phase 2 is very great.
My highspeed maximum was 250km/h last weekend but the car runs more...
That was enough for me.....that was real km/h not like a C20LET Turbo speedometer....270km/h with a Astra Estate....:D :D :D --haha, that was a great joke....

Morten, please have a look on your air pressure hole.
I mean the air intake hole from the air cooler..you can see it very good.

In front of the fitting (air intake)my hole is a little deformed---it results from the bumper under the hole---the hole measures 50mm and so it is not enough room for free installation...

I hope this deformed hole is not so important for working...please have a look on your car...have you the same deformed hole ?

Yes, we saw us at EDS last weekend....we stood in the back, you and your friend got the old things (air cooler, original springs etc) in your car...do you remember ???:p

Too bad we didn't get to say hello last weekend - we were in a hurry to get back to Denmark - a few hours later than expected.

I will try to find the place to check for the deformity - I don't know much about these things, that's why I let EDS do all the hard work :)

I'll get back to you ASAP.

Do you have the power drop I mentioned, between 6.000 and 6.500 rpm ?. What kind of rear silencer do you have ?.

Hey Morton,

i drive phase II now since 4 or 5 months, and i have definitely no problems at 6500 umin.
But i have an complete new exhaust with an racekat.
I drove the original eds coupe and it was an real difference between my car and the original exhaust.
I reach the topspeed without any problems at 250 kmh but i drive
big wheels 10X17 with 245 tires in front and rear.
So i think the 270 kmh with the original tires should not be the problem.
