South Finland,
Hi! I´m going to buy EDS phase 3 chip and now I´m wondering what else do I have to change my car besides the bigger intercooler? I have heard that original fuel pump can´t produce enough fuel and pressure to injectors? Is it true??I´m ready to buy new fuel pump from Bosch if it´s really necessary. That new pump´s work pressure is 5 bar and consumption is max.220 l/h. I think that must be enough...or is it? And does anybody know how much that original Opels pump produce bar´s and consumption??How about original injectors, do I have to change them bigger, too??? I would be pleased if somebody can tell me how these things should be...

The original pump produces around 85 l/hr.

Is 220 l/hr enough ?? Think about it like this - Your car has a 60 litre tank. The 220 l/hr pump can empty this in around 16.2 minutes.

Can your car use all of its petrol up (60 litres) in 16 minutes even if you keep your foot pinned to the floor ??

If not then I would suggest its plenty :D

As for injectors - If you upgrade to the Bosch red injectors (as used in Saab turbo) then you can reduce fuel pressure (if you want) to 4 bar for Phase III and you'll be fine.

You dont need to reduce the fuel pressure tho.

The Bosch part number for these is - 0 280 150 431

How sad is that, I remember it off the top of my head  :p

South Finland,
Well,I didn´t get the straight answer...!So Is it useful to change the normal pump to the bigger Bosch 0 580 254 909 fuel pump?Is there any possibility when I run with full throttle and max.tbopressure(1.15 bar) mixture is going too lean with the original pump? And would the bigger pump harm anything...?

Hi !

The most important thing to keep the LET engine alive is a perfect fuel supply system !

When you are afraid , that your pump is tyred , than replace it to the bigest version you can get !

Thats the most save way !

In my opinion , the fuel pump is an important maintenance part !

After 10 years , replace it , thats the best !

regards ASH
