installed the phase 3.5 and took the car for a run im not impressed as i reach around 1.25 bar and try to hold it the car has no power to give like its holding back any ideas what this is, is it most likely to be a fuel related problem, the afr gauge shows two rich leds on boost
if i put the power in slowly with the accelerator the car feels much stronger

I guess, that this is a Valve problem caused by too much pressure in the exhaust system. Please don´t drive with your car until you have a solution for this problem, because it´s very dangerous for your engine! Please contact EDS by Phone or "ASH" in this Forum by PM for help. I can´t explain what you have to do for repair, because my english is too bad. I can only tell you, that you have to change the pressure of the valve-springs.

mate which valve are you referring to my echaust isa straight through powerflow that shouldnt be a problem

Hi,

He is talking about the Outlet-Cam-Valve-Springs. Sorry for my bad English, but i think you know now what Inter wanted to say.
Between the cylinderhead and the exaust-turbine of your turbo sometimes is a big pressure that can hold the Outlet-Valves a little open. This causes Power-Loss and can damage your Pistons too.

You need stronger Valvesprings or put some Steelplates under your original Valvesprings to make them a little harder.

But if your Power-Loss is not very hard it could be an other Problem.
I have the feeling that the fueling is too rich at full acceleration, maybe that's your Problem? This is made to protect the Engine at full load.

any ideas why this pressure would build up, i dont lose power once the car reaches 1.25 bar it doesnt keep pulling, id did notice a fuel leak today between fuel tank and pump

Hi,

Close your fuel-leak and see what happens. Because of this leak you have a Fuel/Air-Mixture in your fuelsystem that could kill your Pistons.
Fix this and maybe your Problem is solved.

i will fix the leak and fit a new fuel pump bosch 053 but can i still take the car for a test run is there any other way of checking the valve problem, i dont want to damage anything whilst testing, im sure i didnt have this problem before the phase 3.5 was fitted
mind you my car does have a breather problem if i take off the cam breather pipe the one which fits to turbo the car does not smoke, if i connect this back up the car starts to smoke on idle

Hi,

Better take the Pierburg-Fuelpump, you find it on the EDS-Homepage.
Your Smoke-Problem ist nothing new, a lot of people have this. It's because the Turbo takes more Air out of the Cam-Cap than before. You can fix this by reducing the diameter of the pipe or of the Inlet at the Turbo. But be sure to do it in a Way that nothing can fall into the Turbo.

If you habe the Valve-Problem und can use Step 1 and 2 without any risk to test and drive , on this steps the Problem does not appear.

I blocked the intake on the turbo, so NO oil can enter in the inlet wheel.
The oother side of the hose from the cylinderhead is droppings it's oil somewhere else now. It works very fine ;)

gsi turbo i have done exactly the same thing was the oil smoking a sign of the valve problem, is this a method which also eliminates the valve problem
