Betreff: Stalling C20 LET

I am having a problem with my car stalling at junctions and roundabouts.
This only happens sometimes!!! There is also a problem with the engine
sometimes not starting ie if the engine has been running and at operating
temp and switched off for a short time like 5-10mins it starts but has to
build up pressure like priming fuel pump. Rev counter also has to build up
to 3000-4000rpm. It starts everytime but with a delay. No fault codes

The engine spec

C20LET conversion

Coscast Head Standard for now - Ported polished and gasflow head to be
fitted with Evo 6 cams
Bosch F5 DPOR plugs
Bottom end- wallace Performance rebuild
Oil spray bars
Crank regrind
ARP rod bolts
uprated JE pistons
Z20LET metal head gasket - 2 gaskets to be fitted when new head is going on.
V-max K26/24RS 400PS turbo
Wallace Performance -4 actuator- Dawes device limits boost to 10psi
V-max 60mm top hat
V-max Evo 310 software - Evo 360 software to be installed with head and cams
V-max Adjustable FPR (4.5Bar)
Evo 6 motorsport fuel pump - Rated to 500BHP
Standard injectors - 550ccm injectors to be fitted with software.
Turbo XS blow-off valve
60mm pipe work
Evo 6 intercooler
K&N cone Filter
Direct cold air intake
Powerflow Exhaust 2.5" with 4" Jap tail pipe
DSOP downpipe with seperated wastegate
No CAT

I have replaced with new

Crank shaft sensor
Idle control valve
Air flow meter
Coolant sensor
Air temp sensor
Lambda sensor- Bosch
Dump valve for new Baileys and XS blow off valve
Cone filter is about 15" from turbo inlet

Engine runs fine and makes good power.

The fuel relay has been replaced.

It only stalls when the revs drop.

I have also had high voltage form the coolant sensor fault 15. But this does not happen when it stalls the car just runs bad when this happens.
The code only flashes then off again.

Did you checked if its also without the cone filter, and without the blow off valve? Water temperature sensor also changed?

I will try without the cone filter in the next few days. I would try and run the engine without blow off valve but the Vmax turbo K26/24RS i have doesnt have the built in dump valve as the K16 has. So it dangerous to run without one which Marcus said.

Coolant sensor was changed when i first got this stalling problem the loom has also been changed.

Disconnected blow off valve today and still stalling! The airbox doesnt fit my pipe work and there isnt enough room to modify the pipe work. Any other suggestions?

Did you have some Datalogs of Sensors like, throttle, boost, rpm, lambda .... ?
Maybe there something is visible when the stalling happens like a wrong mixture or wrong data from the throttle or something else.

Or did you changed anything on the fueltank for the fuel pump? Because on junctions and round abouts maybe the pump dont get enough fuel?
With a wideband lambda meter you can read out if the fuel mixture goes lean when the problem happens.

Will put Tech 1 on and take it for a drive.

The fuel pump was a direct replacement for the original but is rated to 500bhp.

I have a A/F ratio gauge in the car but i could get a loan of a wideband lambda sensor from Gavin Wallace.

Cleared the fault codes today and on the way home no 15 coolant sensor came up. I think its the wiring to this as the intake pipe is hitting this sometimes which maybe causing this fault. The sensor is only 6 months old so cant see it being that.

Replaced the coolant sensor for a new one and checked wiring. Will hopefully stop Code 15 coming up and let the car run smooth again.
