Would you be able to explain why this wouldn't work? Especially as the voltage operating range is the same as the standard 200Kpa one.

I take it that 2bar boost and 2.5 bar over boost is too much?

Cheers :)

Yes, but I think it´s not important to explain that here. There are some things that not everybody has to know!

Voltage range is the same, so the scale is different. The ecu is looking for 3V for example (and that may = 1.2bar with the standard sensor). Change the sensor for the 300KPa one and now 3V = something like 1.8bar. The ecu is none the wiser that the boost is up and fuels and sparks the engine for the normal lower boost.

It would work if the new sensor was fitted and the ecu map was altered to acount for the changes.

IF you want to do that, you should change the bottem chip.
And thats quite a big job. It is possible... but takes some time ..

Question was for P3.5 & P4. Changes to the bottomchip have no effect to the boost, because it is not controlled by the ecu itself!

Yep, right... it only works on 'standard' motronics

Ahhh, so thats why! Is the Amal valve just driven at a different set duty cycle for the normal boost and overboost rather than the closed loop affair as standard?

The WasteGate Frequency Valve (if that's wat you mean) is controlled by the extra ph3 print, if standard.. then it's controlled by the motronic itself.

Overboost is created by a fast spinning up turbo, and when the boost is Over the Boost level, then the W.G.F.V send the wategate open ;)

W.G.F.V's are very nice because they can control boost pressure very precise. So dont mess up with it...

Dennis

No, its controlled by the boostcontroller with a modulated pwm-signal for the valve. It also measures the speed how the boost is rising and can controll the overboost very effective. You are very free in programming the controller, everything is possible. With a bigger controller you could also measure enginespeed and carspeed and programm different setups for each gear! Thats not possible with the boring motronic. Same thing with the boostcut by the lamdamonitoring - not possible with the motronic itself.

yes Daredevil thats the easy'er word i looked for :D
W.G.F.V = boostcontroller

It;s a very nice an effective device !
I once tried to install a DTA programmable engine managment with this device and i was able to control boost at throttle setp or set ip up @ rpm ;)

Ahh fair enough. Same as standard then just moved done by a different board.

I call it a Boost Control Solenoid usually as Amal is actually a company that makes one version of them and the type used on the LET.
