The factory setting up locks the gearbox selector in place and likewise the gearlever. Depending on the age of the gearbox you will either have a spring loaded locking pin or a plastic plug blocking a hole above the box selector rod. There is a matching hole in the selector rod mechanism. Move the rod until the pin or if no pin then a drill bit of same diameter can be pushed into hole locking the selector rod. Undo the pinch bolt. With the gearlever gaitor removed a small hole in the plastic attached to the gearlever can be seen on the left hand side. Again there is a matching hole underneath to lock the lever. Once locked tighten the pinch bolt.
